Object Lesson Theme: Spiritual Growth A Newborn Baby (1 Peter 2:2) |
[Borrow a doll baby resembling a real baby.]
I'd like to introduce a baby to you. This baby was born not too long ago, and
has a very unusual name. The baby's first name is "Kant" and his last name is
"enough." What do you think the baby's middle name is? Get.
So the baby's full name: KANT GET ENOUGH.
What is it that baby can't get enough of? MILK
This baby really wants milk. He strongly desires it. He longs for it, because
that's how babies grow.
He wants milk in the morning. He wants milk in the afternoon. He wants milk in
the evening. He wants to wake his parents up in the middle of the night just so
he can have more milk.
What does the baby do to help people understand that he really wants milk? (Cry)
(Play recording of baby crying)
Feed baby: This baby has a good appetite. He strongly desires milk and he's
going to grow and grow and grow.
My question for each of you: If you have been born into God's family, how are
you to be like this baby?
1 Peter 2:2
Tomorrow morning, are you going to desire the pure milk of the Word that you may
grow thereby? At other times during the day tomorrow, are you going to have a
hunger for God's truth? Or, is the milk bottle going to be unused? Is the Bible
going to be closed?
Let's say the verse together: "As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the
word, that ye may grow thereby."
