God created man in His own image, and He created them male and female (Genesis 1:27), and placed Adam and Eve in a beautiful garden. What God made was "very good" (Genesis 1:31).  God's creation was beautiful and exactly as He wanted it to be.

[Bring to class an uncooked egg]  This egg can remind us of God's perfect creation.  It has a wonderful oval shape and its surface is as smooth as can be.  An egg is amazingly strong, especially when pressed from end to end with the palms of your hand. Why is this so? The shape of the egg is the secret! The egg’s unique shape gives it tremendous strength, despite its seeming fragility. Eggs are similar in shape to a three-dimensional arch, one of the strongest architectural forms. The egg is the strongest at the top and the bottom (or at the highest point of the arch). If you hold an egg in your hand and squeeze it on the top and the bottom, the egg doesn’t break because you are adding pressure to the ends which are the strongest parts of the egg. The curved form of the shell also distributes pressure evenly all over the shell rather than concentrating it at any one point. When you completely surround the egg with your hand and then squeeze, the pressure you apply by squeezing is distributed evenly all over the egg.  The egg is perfectly designed by our great Creator; it did not come about by accident.

Also an egg is a trinity.  It's one egg but composed of three parts--the shell, the white of the egg and the yoke.  But all three parts combine to make one amazing egg.   How wonderful it is that a baby chicken can form inside of an egg until the day when it is ready to hatch. God's ways are remarkable! Have any of you seen a chicken hatch from an egg?

Which came first, the chicken or the egg?   God created chickens (male and female), and these adult birds were able to reproduce, and the hen is able to produce eggs.  This is all part of God's wonderful plan for these feathery creatures.

Let's let the egg represent God's wonderful creation at the beginning.   But Adam and Eve disobeyed God and fell into sin as we learn in Genesis chapter 3.  Their fall into sin can be represented by a broken egg.

[Put the egg in a closable plastic bag so there will be no mess, and have a child come up and squeeze the egg and break it into tiny crushed pieces.]

Now that this egg is broken, is there any way to fix it?  Is there any way to put it back together? [You can remind them of "Humpty Dumpty."] 

Man was ruined by sin, just like this egg is ruined.  We can't put the egg back together; likewise there is no way that man's sin problem can be fixed apart from a miracle of God.  No matter what sinful man tries to do to fix his sin problem, he will learn that nothing will work.  No one else can solve his problem either.   He is like the broken egg; there is no way to make that egg whole again.

But God can do anything!  Only God can solve man's problem.  Only God can fix that which was broken by sin.  Only God can make us whole again.  Just like the egg can never be made whole again apart from a miracle, so sinful man cannot be made whole again apart from the miracle of salvation (the miracle of the new birth).  "If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature [new creation]; old things are passed away,  behold, all things are become new" (2 Cor. 5:17).
